Keynote Speaker: Rene Gutteridge

Rene Gutteridge will present the opening keynote address for the conference on Friday, September 21, 2018, and a fiction workshop later in the day.  She can only be with us on Friday.

Rene is the award-winning and best-selling author of twenty-four multi-genre novels and is a seasoned collaborator in both fiction and film. She has novelized six screenplays and movies, including her newest, Old Fashioned, with writer/director Rik Swartzwelder. Her romantic comedy with screenwriter Cheryl McKay, Never the Bride, won the Carol Award in 2010 for Best Women’s Fiction.  Her new titles include two more novelizations with Cheryl McKay, Love’s a Stage and O Little Town of Bethany. Her seven suspense books include Possession, Misery Loves Company, Ghost Writer and Escapement.

Her indie film, the comedy SKID, was deadCenter Film Festival’s Best Oklahoma Feature Film Winner in 2015 and also won Best Oklahoma Feature at Red Dirt and Trail Dance. She is a creative consultant on Boo, a script based on her beloved novel series, which is in development at Sodium 11 Entertainment with Andrea Nasfell (Moms’ Night Out) as screenwriter. Her novel My Life as a Doormat was adapted into a Hallmark film called Love’s Complicated which premiered in January of 2016 and scored 2.1 million viewers.  She is the head writer for The Skit Guys.

Keynote Speaker: W. TERRY WHALIN

Terry will present the closing keynote on Friday and two keynotes on Saturday. He will teach workshops both days.

He worked as a magazine editor and his magazine work has appeared in more than 50 publications. A former literary agent, Terry is an Acquisitions Editor at Morgan James Publishing.

He has written more than 60 books through traditional publishers in a wide range of topics from children’s books to biographies to co-authored books. Several of Terry’s books have sold over 100,000 copies.

Terry’s book, JUMPSTART YOUR PUBLISHING DREAMS, INSIDER SECRETS TO SKYROCKET YOUR SUCCESS (Morgan James Publishing) is packed with insight. His most recent book is BILLY GRAHAM, A BIOGRAPHY OF AMERICA’S GREATEST EVANGELIST (Morgan James Publishing). Also Terry has an innovative online training course to help authors effectively connect with literary agents and editors called Write A Book Proposal. Terry is a popular speaker and teacher at numerous writers’ conferences and an active member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors.  He lives near Denver, Colorado and has an active following on twitter.

She is the co-author and co-owner with her husband of 40 Day Publishing and selfpub101.com (an online self-publishing school). Darlene loves spending time with her family (including her dog, Cantankerous Clover) and traveling abroad.

Author, Writing Coach and Conference Speaker, RJ Thesman offers her expertise to another Successful Writers Conference. With 11 books and over 700 articles to her credit, Thesman shares from her experiences and the best practices she uses herself.  She is considered a hybrid writer with books in the traditional publishing markets as well as her own independent works. Thesman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and is a biblical counselor, a Stephen minister and a certified life coach. She likes reading, sports, gardening and cooking – especially anything with blueberries. Thesman lives in the heartland of Kansas with her adult son and an elderly cat.

Workshop Presenter: Carol Round

Carol Round is a self-syndicated Christian columnist, author and inspirational speaker. Her writing has appeared in local, state, carolround.jpgnational and international publications and anthologies.

She also pens a weekly 500-word column, “A Matter of Faith,” which runs in 14 Oklahoma newspapers, several national publications, two online Christian publications and several international publications.

She is the author of nine books, all available at Amazon, including three collections of her columns, a book and companion workbook on prayer journaling, and a three-book series for children to teach them the importance of giving, saving and spending their money.

Her most recent book, released in October 2017, is for women only. Titled Growing Confidently in Your Faith, the book is a 52- week devotional/spiritual journal to help women find their identity in Christ.

Her missionary parents raised her in Africa and she’s adopted seven teenagers from poverty backgrounds. She writes stories about them to encourage others to raise up those in poverty. She also enjoys calligraphy and watercolor.
